    Laura, it is to do with syllables. I have been reading about the Japanese poet Basho who was the first rebel to break the seventeen symbol structure for haiku (that’s Japanese syllables) and write haiku with eighteen syllables. So this poem is a devil and has eighteen as opposed to my mostly seventeen. Hope this makes sense 🙂

    Thanks for explaining. I feel silly, but I don’t know that much about poetry. I still appreciated the pushing the boundaries part, though–even in my ignorance. 🙂
