Only a poet could make social commentary so perfect.

Deep – deep – deep. So much in here to mull over, Davy. The life we were born into is now so changed. The old ‘certainties’ have been replaced by new concepts which seem to have brought with them so many doubts and difficulties to disturb our thinking. Perhaps it was ever thus, but it doesn’t feel like it.

It’s the phrase Roland that you can only live in the age you are born into. I remember my Nan going into a panic when I was given a Texas Instrument calculator. She said it was the work of the devil. Like you I sometimes feel the pace of technology is passing me by. Thank you for your insightful comment, it has got me thinking even more.

Powerful writing, Davy. A social commentary that is both thought-provoking and humorously poignant is rare indeed. Thank you!

Very cleverly done. I love it! Social media has indeed become the G-d to many these days. We spend our spare time tweeting, blogging, catching up on Facebook or instagram. (Guilty as charged). But if you snooze you lose. πŸ˜‰ Ironically, on WordPress, the other day, I was called out for writing in too much detail. Told that doing so wasn’t β€œcurrent”. And that writing in complete sentences reveals my age. πŸ™€There are days when I feel those of us β€œof a certain age” can’t seem to win. A bit like It was in the mid 1960’s. (When young people were stuck in the middle of being Progressive AND Old school at the same time because life was changing so rapidly.) It gets harder and harder to keep up. And I must confess, I love my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro. They keep me connected especially now that I’m retired. But I dont worship them…At least not yet. Lol

Boo to them Lesley. I look forward to your responses. Half the time I have to show text messages to my daughter to get a translation. I do like Social Media but think there needs to be a balance. Like you say not quite at the worship stage πŸ™‚ Keep up the complete sentence writing.

Very profound AND poignant, Davy! Great rhyme-y poem!
Yes, it all started with an “apple” in a garden, didn’t it?!?! πŸ˜€ And Apple is still tempting (and dominating) the world. Ha. In good and not-so-good ways.
I love my tech devices and smart-phone…but I’m still baffled by how quickly things have changed over the past 30+ years.
I know people who read the Bible on a Bible app. They don’t open the actual book anymore.
HUGS!!! πŸ™‚
PS…I’m still amazed they sold a smart-phone to a pea-brained woman like myself! πŸ˜‰ Ha! Just a joke! πŸ˜€ My brain is at least the size of an apple. πŸ˜›
