Butterflies

This is so sweet! Yet, so much more than sweet: you can feel the movement of this poem, both from the heartbeat within and the fluttering of butterfly wings that give you hope and push the emptiness away. A lovely one, Davy. I can just imagine butterflies doing that. πŸ™‚

Thank you for the kind words and comments. I think the term “butterflies in the stomach” is so descriptive and watching butterflies describes the feeling without words. I was trying to capture the anticipation of a loved one returning and not knowing if anything has changed. I am glad the poem captured that for you Laura.

Aw! This is sigh-worthy and brings smiles, Davy!
We all need hope, love, friends, family, etc! And I can’t imagine a world without butterflies!

butterflies are so symbolic in so many cultures and beliefs and we make them up because we need this hope that flutters. I liked the colourful ones you chose to go with your words. the feeling of anticipation and longing all wrapped beautifully in your poetry Davy, like waiting for a beautiful season to arrive.

Great post Davy! I so agree with Yassy – “You are so clever with your words and ideas”! This is yet another great example of just that! Loved your statement that butterflies are a Symbol of Hope! A beautiful blending of words, symbol and expression of an uncertainty but hope as well. The flitter and flutter of butterflies is a perfect description of that back and forth feeling in your stomach in those “uncertain” situations! Bravo, Davy!!!
